Taking Control of PubMed with Fields and Filters

Taking Control of PubMed with Fields and Filters

Comprehensive searching requires the use of field commands. Knowing how and when to use commands in databases like PubMed allows you to target the exact language you are looking for. Using field commands with confidence will also allow you to obtain relevant, current information quickly. This session will explore the concept of automatic mapping and how we can override PubMed defaults to search specific pieces of information. You will also be introduced to the concept of filters/hedges for publication types and subject areas that you can use and manipulate to enhance the relevancy of your results.

Recommended for: Staff who are frequent PubMed users and comfortable with basic navigation. If you need to brush-up on navigation, we recommend taking PubMed Essentials first.
