Searching Skills for the Health Care Provider II: Find Intervention Articles Quickly

Searching Skills for the Health Care Provider II: Find Intervention Articles Quickly

Point-of-care tools can be effective in the moment, but don’t always provide the answers you need. When you can’t find relevant clinical answers in point-of-care tools, a strategic search for studies is required to get to the most current information.

This session:

  • Explains the structure for asking an answerable clinical question
  • Illustrates defining characteristics of study types relevant to answering clinical questions
  • Provides hands-on experience using PubMed Clinical Queries to search for relevant studies

Learning outcomes:

  • Create an answerable clinical question
  • Identify types of questions and appropriate study types to answer question
  • Translate question to search in PubMed Clinical Queries
  • Filter results to locate appropriate study type
  • Access full-text articles provided through NSHA

Recommended for: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and other direct care providers looking to incorporate evidence into practice.
