Finding Free-to-Use Images: Public domain, open licenses, and more!

Finding Free-to-Use Images: Public domain, open licenses, and more! Online

Copyright-compliant images can make your content more engaging and educational, whether you're creating a presentation, poster, or subject guide. In this hands-on session, you’ll work with a sample search to find free-of-charge or open-licensed photographs, illustrations, and more in Google Images, Microsoft products, as well as reputable online sources. You’ll learn to interpret how images are licensed and how to cite them appropriately.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this 60-minute session, you will know:

  • How copyright relates to images.
  • Where to find free-to-use images
  • What Public Domain is and is not
  • How to interpret Creative Commons licenses and terms-of-use
  • How to cite images appropriately

Recommended for: Nova Scotia Health staff who create print, online or educational content.
